How to apply
The closing date for these positions is 15th August 2008.
1st round interviews will be held between Monday 18th August and Friday 19th September and will be conducted on behalf of DWP by Hays Purchasing & Supply. This will be against a set competency framework agreed with DWP and successful applicants will be invited to a 2nd stage interview with DWP week commencing 29th September.
Application is by CV and covering letter. The covering letter should cover the following areas:
- Examples of significant achievements illustrating your suitability for the post you are applying for
- Examples of how you have interpreted and analysed a large body of complex information from different sources, identified areas of improvement as well as making sound and objective judgements
- How you have provided leadership to a large, diverse and often geographically dispersed team
- Why this appointment is of interest to you.
Selection
All applicants will be considered and the applicants with the most appropriate mix of skills and experience will be invited to interview. The Selection Board will recommend the candidates considered most suitable for appointment. If you are successful, there will be some checks on your health and other matters before a formal offer of appointment can be made.
Guaranteed Interview Scheme (GIS)
As an Equal Opportunities Employer we actively encourage applications from people with disabilities. If you have a disability and have claimed a guaranteed interview, then you only need to meet the minimum qualifying criteria for the job you have applied for at the application and selection testing stages of the recruitment process. You will then automatically be invited to the final stage.
Equal Opportunities
The Department for Work and Pensions has a policy of equal opportunity. This means that everyone who works for the Department is treated equally, irrespective of their sex, ethnic origin, disability or age. We need to find out if our policy is working in practice. To do this we need to look at:
- how we advertise jobs;
- how we select people for test or interview;
- who is offered a job;
- what we do at the end of the process.
This is so we can make sure there is no discrimination in the way we take on new members.
