IP/Convergence jobs require candidates with skills in a combination technologies encompassing IP Telephony, VOIP, IPTV, VoD, Triple Play, Multimedia, MMS, SMS or Mobile Internet etc.
Convergence is two or more different technologies brought together to provide a Product or Service on a single device ie photo messaging on a mobile phone or accessing the internet via your television. Candidates with skills in VOIP (Voice over IP), IP Telephony and Multimedia are most in demand.

A Convergence specialist is involved in the support, design, development or implementation of solutions utilising IP/converged technologies. Consultants progress from support, development or design into roles with responsibility for Project Management, Solutions Design and Solutions Architecture.
IP and Converegnce consultants need to have a broad range of skills and interests. These include:
- Education to degree level in an IT, Telecommunications or Engineering related subject
- In depth knowledge of Data and Voice systems
- Appreciation of Voice, Data networks
- IP Telephony, VOIP, IPTV, VoD, Triple Play, Multimedia, MMS, SMS or Mobile Internet
- Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Visio, Powerpoint)
- Experience in supporting, designing or configuring networks with qualifications in Cisco to CCVP, Nortel Genesys or similar
